“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” (Galatians 5:1)
We’ve been set free to love, free to rejoice, free to be at peace, free to forgive, free to be kind, free to be faithful, free to be gentle, free to live self-controlled, free to be patient, free to be merciful, free to suffer for Christ, free to have died with Christ, free to have been raised with Christ, free to laugh, free to dance, free to have all things in Christ.
We were not set free by Christ to go back to the same things that we were freed from, things like hatred for one another, envying one another, lusting one another, worshipping one another, idolizing one another, murdering one another, betraying one another, deceiving one another. We were freed from those very things, so that we may not remain dead by our fleshly desires, but raised to live freely by the Spirit of God.
If you believe in Jesus Christ, then the Spirit of the one who raised him from the dead is in you.
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom” (2 Corinthians 3:17)
And
“So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” (John 8:36)
