Jesus, preparing a new house, a new body for us.

“My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.” (John 14:2-3)

Imagine that you’ve living in an old broken-down house. And someone comes along and said that he’s preparing a brand new house for you to live in. That new house is where you will be once you leave this old house.

Imagine that the house or rooms that Jesus is referring to, is actually our physical body, a dwelling that our soul and spirit reside in.

As we see our physical body growing old, broken windows, leaky faucets, torn up lawn, we could become hopeless and homeless and be filled with anxiety with worrying about what we’re going to do.

We keep feeding this body with all sorts of pills and food and surgeries and band-aids thinking that maybe we won’t need a new house after all. Then storms come along blowing the roof off, all our hair falls off. Then flooding, and fire, and every types of natural disaster came along. And eventually we look at the old house and realize that it’s just a mess. The cost to repair is astronomical and not even within our reach.

Then we remember the words of Jesus:

“My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.” (John 14:2-3)

Upon those words we gladly leave our earthly body at the lead and strength of the Holy Spirit and enter eternity, the presence of our Lord Jesus, the presence of our Father, God. Amen.

Some would say, “well, what about the funeral and burial?”

Well it’s good to bury the decaying, and welcome the ever-living in Christ Jesus. Amen.

that where “I AM”, there you may be also.

that where God is, there you may be also.
