Ordination

“While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit spoke. “Set apart Barnabas and Saul for me,” he said. “I have appointed them to do special work.” The prophets and teachers fasted and prayed. They placed their hands on Barnabas and Saul. Then they sent them off. Barnabas and Saul were sent on their way by the Holy Spirit. They went down to Seleucia. From there they sailed to Cyprus. They arrived at Salamis. There they preached God’s word in the Jewish synagogues. John was with them as their helper.”‭‭(Acts‬ ‭13:2-5‬)
If you ever ordain anybody, all it really should mean is that you’ve got their back. But for how long will you have their back? For as long as they’re pleasing you? For as long as you’re alive?
Wouldn’t it be better to have Christ himself ordain him by filling him up with the Holy Spirit? He’ll have Christ making him stand, no matter what. And also, Christ lives forever. He’s a much better assurance.
“Give praise to the One who is able to keep you from falling into sin. He will bring you into his heavenly glory without any fault. He will bring you there with great joy. Give praise to the only God. He is our Savior. Glory, majesty, power and authority belong to him. Give praise to him through Jesus Christ our Lord. Give praise to the One who was before all time, who now is, and who will be forever. Amen.” (Jude‬ ‭1:24-25‬)
