“Do not try to get even. Do not hold anything against one of your people. Instead, love your neighbor as you love yourself. I am the Lord.” (Leviticus 19:18)
The very thing I cannot do, but God alone. Only he can empower to love as he loves.
“We love because he loved us first. Anyone who says he loves God but in fact hates his brother or sister is a liar. He doesn’t love his brother or sister, whom he has seen. So he can’t love God, whom he has not seen. Here is the command God has given us. Anyone who loves God must also love his brothers and sisters.” (1 John 4:19-21)
To me, loving myself means wanting to see the best for myself. So, loving others, to me, means wanting to see the best for others.
“In the same way, husbands should love their wives. They should love them as they love their own bodies. Any man who loves his wife loves himself. After all, people have never hated their own bodies. Instead, they feed and care for their bodies. And that is what Christ does for the church.” (Ephesians 5:28-29)
I can feel like a mess, sometimes, if not most of the times. And thank God that I’m not what I feel. There’s no one best for me other than Jesus himself and Jesus alone. There’s no one that I want for others other than Jesus himself and him alone. When I vomit, only he can come and wants to come and does come to clean me up.
