“You’re going to get hurt.” Did Jesus say that to me or any of his followers?
If Jesus had said that, in one form or another, I will definitely be at ease by now.
But let’s see:
“They will put you out of the synagogue; in fact, the time is coming when anyone who kills you will think they are offering a service to God.” (John 16:2)
“In this world you will have trouble” (John 16:33)
So Jesus did say that and more.
“If the world hates you, understand that it hated Me first.” (John 15:18)
In the light of what Christ said, I would say, “if the church hates you, understand that it hated me first.”
“Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first.” (Revelation 2:4)
“If you keep My commandments, you will remain in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and remain in His love.” (John 15:10)
