A year ago from today…

The Lord stirred my heart this morning to look for the passage referring to “sanctify yourselves” and shed light on it. As I searched for that passage, I found it but wasn’t satisfied in my spirit but kept on looking for cross-reference passages. Then I stumbled onto Joshua 7:13. And this is what it says:

“Go, consecrate the people. Tell them, ‘Consecrate yourselves in preparation for tomorrow; for this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: There are devoted things among you, Israel. You cannot stand against your enemies until you remove them.” (Joshua 7:13)

Please, each of us, read this passage in light of each one of ourselves.

The greatest ever devoted possession of ours is our flesh, which was once devoted to injustices. In Christ, God delivered our flesh to the cross for destruction as the law mandated. Once our flesh was destroyed on the cross, the law became powerless for only through the injustices of the flesh the essence of the law is manifested.

God did it in Christ Jesus. He took away the devoted “thing” among us so that now, in Christ Jesus, we can stand by faith, the full armor of God, against the devil, the enemy.

Blessed be the name of Jesus, who consecrated us by the power of his death and breathed new life in all who believe through his resurrection. Amen.
