What is a trap to me?
A trap to me is something that I find myself doing, that I earn praise and have relentless support from others for doing it, and that I have concluded to be my identity because of all the support and praises. That is a trap to me. That’s where I used to be with religion.
Lots of support, lots of praises, but zero rest. As I sought to do more, I heard from other that “God will bless me”. But when I started doing less due to less support and less praises, I then heard that “God will curse me”.
That was when I was convicted in my spirit that something just did not add up. But the help I was seeking wouldn’t come from the place I usually attend to get fed. It would come from Christian program at a local AM radio station. The help was the gospel. The Christian program was by Basic Gospel. Though the program no longer aired on that station, its website is still available at basicgospel.net to help many seeking answers that their spiritual restaurants would not typically have.
If you’re ever being praised, it is best that it is Jesus in you who’s being praised and not anything else. And it is best that it is the gospel that’s being praised, and not our opinions.
“Rather, “Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.” For it is not the one who commends himself who is approved, but the one whom the Lord commends.” (2 Corinthians 10:17-18)
