Following Christ is definitely like walking on a thin line. You can only have one straight line going through two points: Christ and his Father.
Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)
How are our steps assured? by faith.
“The steps of a man are established by the LORD, And He delights in his way. When he falls, he will not be hurled headlong, Because the LORD is the One who holds his hand.” (Psalm 23:24)
Falling is sign that we’re walking on a thin line. Knowing that we’re walking on a thin line is reassurance that we’re heading in the right direction.
It’s not, “if he falls…”, but “when he falls..”
Falling is God reminding us of our weaknesses. God doesn’t cause the fall, but He brought us to the knowledge of it. Whenever we’ve come to knowing our fall, we’re immediately made aware of our helper, “the one who holds our hands.”
Because the LORD is the One who holds his hand. Amen.
