I was kept in fears since I was a kid. Fearing that my siblings would tell on me, fearing that my classmates would tell on me, fearing that people would tell on me. As a result, I tried very hard not to give anyone anything to tell on me.
But when I heard the gospel saying that all my records were cleared, all my sins were forgiven, and that God reconciled me to Him in Christ, I followed through seeking to learn if this was true. Every little bit of information I found regarding this forgiveness points me right back to the gospel. Now, I don’t care what people tell on me. Better, let them say that I’ve gone nuts for Christ Jesus. Let them tell all the world that I’ve lost it for Christ Jesus. Let such be their testimony of me to the glory of God in Christ Jesus. By doing so, they will only have spread the gospel by kindling others’ curiosity as to what is it that drove me mad about Jesus.
When I hear Bruno Mars sings the words, “They got nothing on you, Baby”, the reality of Jesus Christ reminds me of this:
“When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross. And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.” (Colossians 2:13-15)
Nothing on you. The cross of Christ cleared all the records. All of the records of men were unsealed at the cross. Nothing of men can stand against them before God, thanks to the blood of Jesus Christ. The only thing sealed are our spirits with the Spirit of God by Jesus.
“In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.” (Ephesians 1:11-14)
Nothing on you! All the records were canceled before you were even born. Nothing on you!
“So from now on we regard no one from a worldly point of view. Though we once regarded Christ in this way, we do so no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God. God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.” (2 Corinthians 5:16-21)
“Be reconciled to God”, meaning “know what God knows of you.”
The Holy Spirit is the reality of Jesus Christ in you. The Holy Spirit is God in you.
Praised the name of Jesus ought to be. Praised he ought to be!!!!
