The Way Of Love.

For as long as Christ has not returned, problems like:

Abortions will continue.
Terrorism will continue.
Wars will continue.
Hatred will continue.
Greed will continue.
Sicknesses will continue.
Physical death will continue.
Hopelessness will continue.

When God wanted to show us his love for us, he didn’t put an end to any of the problems mentioned above. He brought Jesus, His Son, to a cross to die of a painful death, a sacrifice that is acceptable in his courtroom as the complete payment for all of the world’s sins.

All of these problems and alike will continue until Christ returns and establish the new creation in every form to put an end to this fallen world through redemption by his blood.

The gospel is a message detailing how God loves us. We either welcome it or reject it. It may all depend on how well we hear it and understand it.

The gospel is not a proposition. It is not an offer. It is not a demand. It is a message of what’s been done, who had done it, how it was done, why it was done and who’s to benefit from it.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.” (John 3:16-21)

“For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again.” (2 Corinthians 5:14-15)

Jesus came not to shame, but to save. And he did just by his death on the cross, his burial in the tomb and his resurrection out of death so that we too who are following him may follow him all the way into eternal life.

He did all of that to our benefit:

“God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them.” (2 Corinthians 5:19)

He came to save.
