What’s the difference between happiness and contentment?
Happiness occurs in the absence of a threat, while contentment occurs in the absence of stress. A threat arises out of our understanding. Stress comes forth as a result of longstanding mismanagement of the perceived threat.
The heart experiences unhappiness, but the mind experiences stress. Happiness and contentment together make joy.
You find yourself unhappy, find the threat and address it with understanding. You find yourself stressed, find the threat and address it with understanding.
“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:7)
The love of God , taught by Jesus, embodied in Jesus, is the peace of God. For a long as God cares, he will be found forever occupied with taking care of you than seeking a way to make your life harder as some blindly suggest.
In order to be happy and content, you have to start with understanding, primarily understanding of the love of God for you and in you.
“He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.”(Matthew 5:45)
The sun will rise as well in 2021 and many more years to come. And the rain will pour as well in 2021, as it did in many years past and even in better ways than ever known.
Happy New Year 2021.
