who’s calling the shots?

If we didn’t choose to be conceived,
If we didn’t choose to be grown in the womb,
If we didn’t choose to be born,
If we didn’t choose to be nurtured,
If we didn’t choose when to fall asleep,
If we didn’t choose when to wake up,
If we didn’t choose to be born sinners,
If we didn’t choose to suffer in this world,
how can we ever claim that we chose to be saved?
How can we ever claim that we chose to be born again?
How can we ever claim that it was by our will that we become children of God?

“He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become sons of God, even to them that believe on his name, who are not born of blood, nor of the will of flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.” (John 1:11-13)

God calls the shots, by his mercy.
