In my circle of colleagues and friends, I struggle at times knowing who among them are Christians and want to be known as Christians. I am not interested in knowing about your “church”, but you. I’d like to know where you stand, which I believe should be on Christ. If anything else, I’d love to discuss it truthfully.
People post pictures of themselves “going to church”, “leaving church”, “playing at church”, and none of that really interest me. What I want to know is where do you stand, not where “your church” is located. I am not even interested in what “role you play” at “your church”. As far as I know and strongly believe, there is only one role for the members of the one church: member. Christ is the head.
If the gospel is not your stand, then you’re either on sinking sand of slippery ground.
As Paul once stressed out:
“Now, brothers and sisters, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received and on which you have taken your stand. By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain. For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance : that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas,b and then to the Twelve. After that, he appeared to more than five hundred of the brothers and sisters at the same time, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles, 8and last of all he appeared to me also, as to one abnormally born.” (1 Corinthians 15:1-8)
Stop hiding now. Come out of the closet of self-imposed shame and condemnation and rather boast in the redeeming blood of Jesus Christ. Amen.
