I don’t serve God by preaching. I don’t serve God by leading the worship. I don’t serve God by spending hours on my knees. I serve God by believing in Jesus.
“Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.””
(John 6:29)
I believe in Jesus when I’m awake. I believe in Jesus when I’m asleep. Whether I’m awake or asleep, I believe in Jesus. Whether I’m dead or alive, I believe in Jesus. Whether I’m rich or poor, I believe in Jesus. In Christ, I’m rich. Christ is everything and more than I could ever dream, to me.
“For none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s. For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.”
(Romans 14:7-9)
If I preach the gospel, if I worship the God of all creation, if I talk to the Almighty, it is the work of the grace of God through me and not my human efforts.
As Paul once said,
“But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me was not in vain. On the contrary, I worked harder than any of them, though it was not I, but the grace of God that is with me.”
(1 Corinthians 15:10)
Jesus said it best:
“Whoever believes in me does not believe in me only, but in the one who sent me.” (John 12:44)
