Worship helps us pray.

Worship helps us pray.

Sometimes my mind goes blank. And as I try to recall what I want to say to my wife, she finishes my sentence for me. And there are times, even when my words don’t make much sense, she responds, “I know what you mean.”

A love song, a greeting card, someone else’s words. Sometimes, we have to borrow words from another just to put together the message we want to share.

Worship helps us do just that and more. Words that remind us of Christ, words that remind us of the love of God, words that speak for us the things that we so want to say but never quite get to remember.

Sometimes, we just don’t know what to say. But thanks be to God that someone is saying for us what we want to say.

“In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.” (Romans 8:26-27)

Most of the times, I don’t know what I’m about to say until it starts coming out of my mouth. Right there and then, everything I say seems to make sense. And, honest to God, I had no idea that this is exactly what I would be saying.

“for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say.”(Luke 12:12)

“Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.” (Colossians 4:6)
