You know…if our joy is anchored in a sunny day, that joy will soon pass.
If it’s based on a rainy season, sooner or later we won’t be smiling.
If it’s based on a fat wallet, a well-furnished house, a brand new car, a day without illness, then we will soon be found joyless because all those things come and go.
But when our joy is anchored in Jesus who is our salvation, then we’ll be rejoicing all day, in every circumstance, because Jesus never leaves us. And that’s the source of our eternal contentment.
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
(John 16:33)
“Though the fig tree may not blossom, Nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls— Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The LORD God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer’s feet, And He will make me walk on my high hills.” (Habakkuk 3:17-19)
Blessed be his name, Amen.
