The church can sometimes seem like an aircraft carrier. Changes in direction may seem hard to come by. A lifeboat, on the other hand, can move around very easily. As a member of the church, you don’t have to wait for everyone else to move around for you to move around. Freely, as a lifeboat, you can move around keeping your eyes on Jesus.
The church is to move like a lifeboat, not like an aircraft carrier.
“Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline, so be zealous and repent.” (Revelation 3:19)
The discipline of the church is faith, hope and love. She is to rejoice in hope, live faithfully, and love unconditionally. That’s all the church has to repent to. That’s all she has to turn around to. And the Holy Spirit alone can help her to do just that. A lifeboat anchored in Christ, moving by the waves of the Spirit, doing the job of a fisherman on souls. That’s the church. That’s it!!!
