You can’t truly know me until I tell you what I have been through. You can’t truly know anyone until you’ve known the struggles they’ve been through. If you want to know folks, ask them about the life struggles they’ve endured. A smile is very pleasant. But just like light, it can easily be undervalued without knowing the darkness surrounding it.
I remember sharing my testimony to someone once. I remember how he quickly got offended. I told him then that I was simply sharing what I suffered. Then he apologized. My story is for those who are interested in hearing it. It is for those who wish to know the true me. It is for those who wish to hear how Christ redeemed me.
Just like anybody else, if you want to know Jesus, know his struggles, know what he suffered:
“He was despised and rejected by mankind, a man of suffering, and familiar with pain. Like one from whom people hide their faces he was despised, and we held him in low esteem.” (Isaiah 53:3)
