This guy put out the fire between us and God, regardless of who we are or what we’ve done or what we could ever do. Who? Jesus.
Paul reminded us, “Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God.” (1 Corinthians 6:9-10)
Peter once asked Jesus, “Who then can be saved” (Luke 18:26)
Jesus then responded, “What is impossible with man is possible with God.” (Luke 18:26)
Jesus is the answer.
Jesus opens the mind.
“Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.” (Luke 24:45)
Jesus opens the heart.
“The Lord opened her heart to respond to Paul’s message.” (Acts 16:14)
How does anyone stop being a sinner to become a child of God? Jesus.
“Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God” (John 1:12)
“And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.” (1 Corinthians 6:11)
The message of the gospel to the world is this:”Whatever difficulty you’re going through, Jesus is your answer.”
The message of the gospel to the church is this:”Whatever difficulty you’re going through, Jesus is your answer.”
Because…
“At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life.” (Titus 3:3-7)
