“Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” (Ephesians 4:29)
Unwholesome…incomplete…partial
Sharing only half of a story is usually the cause of having so many conflicting version of a story.
It’s not fair to start the story and say, “I don’t know the rest of it…”
We all throughout our daily conversations would say, “I heard…”
What we heard and are now sharing…is helpful for building others up according to their needs? Did they really need to hear it? How will it benefit those who are listening to it?
There are many good habits that we are encouraged to develop because of the new hope we have in Christ. We really have to unlearn the old hurtful ones and put the new loving ones into practice.
Nevertheless, nothing we could ever do could measure up to what Christ has already done for us through his cross. Whatever we are to do, it is to remind ourselves and others of what Christ had done.
