There is no fear in love. Only peace, joy and rest.

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. (Proverbs 9:10)

What does this mean? It means that to fear God is an introduction to wisdom because at the very least you’re acknowledging that he exists. You can’t fear someone who, in your mind, doesn’t exist.

But knowing God is above believing that he exists. It is in knowing God through Jesus have we come to understand who God is.

Fearing God is all we can do, without Jesus. Because without Jesus, we cannot come to the knowledge of God. Without Jesus, we cannot come to the understanding of who God is, and who He is to us.

Loving God is all we can do because of Jesus. There is no fear in love. Only peace, joy and rest.

“There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.”‭‭ (1 John‬ ‭4:18‬)
